Stacks of tropical hardwood boards in an open storage shed

About HLSC

Built on Experience, Quality and Personal Service

A family-owned hardwood lumber and construction business based in Choiseul, Saint Lucia.

Our story

It Started With Our Own House

In 2017, visitors to the family home kept asking the same question: where did the hardwood come from? Enough people asked that answering it turned into a business.

What began as sourcing hardwood for neighbours and friends grew into a company that supplies tropical hardwood species, advises customers on selecting them, prepares estimates, supports house plans, and carries out hardwood construction.

We still work the same way we did at the start: in person, project by project, with straight answers about what the material can and cannot do.

Responsibility

Working With a Natural Material

Hardwood is a natural material, and we treat it that way — cutting to order where we can, using offcuts rather than discarding them, and recommending species that suit the job so material is not wasted on the wrong application.

Building well is its own form of sustainability: a hardwood structure that lasts decades avoids the cost and material of replacing it. We are also part of the Choiseul community and take on local work with that in mind.

We do not currently hold environmental certification, and we do not claim it.
